Welcome to the first issue of the third year of the Journal – a periodic newsletter to help all of us to be aware of our trip on the Damascus road to change!

Update: 2012 in Review

Significant events of 2012

  1. Donation of the Rogers property to Damascus
  2. Establishment of a sellers account with eBay, as damascusdc, (look for it)
  3. Opening and continued operation of a thrift store with the name: Heaven Cent, where donations of various goods from yard sales and closet cleanouts are processed and resold for pennies on the dollar – ‘Heaven Cent’ d- we continue to maintain our web site: www.damascusproject.org through the efforts of Lynn Sikes.
  4. The fall banquet was enjoyed by all that attended and we had the opportunity to bring people up to date on the past year and present a preliminary concept plan for a Damascus facility to be located on the Roger’s property.

We continue meeting on Thursday evenings at 6 PM in the building formerly designated Mary Lou’s Café at 3175 Hwy 51S, thanks to the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Hart.

As we quickly approach the time for structured ministry outreach to men in need, and as we put the finishing touches on program, policy, and procedures we covet your help.

Your partnership with us will render the success of Damascus. This is a ministry to the community, by the community.

We remain open to your involvement to whatever degree possible. We have some ideas of what it will look like, but welcome whatever constructive help we can garner from our community.

Damascus would like to be able to generate a combined monthly income of $3000 from a bunch of sources: Our faithful donors, eBay sales, and Heaven Cent thrift store sales. When we start offering services, we want to be able to maintain those services and that level of funding will sustain what we believe is a basic startup operation.

As always, if you can help with work in the thrift store on Saturdays, or with coordinating and working with our fundraising and grant seeking efforts, or possibly with the management of the eBay store – you would be most welcome and I believe, rewarded!
